Expekt Poker Review

Great value for money

Expekt was launched in 1999 and the company has now offered poker for more than a decade, along with sports betting, casino games and bingo as well.

I would recommend Expekt Poker as one of the better iPoker skins for players, thanks to its excellent deposit bonus and the rewards available from one of the best VIP systems on the network.

  • Large First Deposit Bonus to New Sign-ups
  • Excellent 10-Level VIP System For All Players
  • Large & Reputable Company Behind It
  • Possibly The Best iPoker Loyalty Program

About Expekt Poker

About

Expekt as a company was launched in 1999 by two Swedish entrepreneurs. Their main customer base was in northern Europe, primarily Sweden and Poland. They still focus on this market, as shown by their current roster of ambassadors, with Pontus Kåmar and Zibi Boniek both retired sports stars from Sweden and Poland respectively. Expekt have previously had poker ambassadors such as the Prince of Poker himself Scotty Nguyen and 2014 EPT Grand Final runner up Jack Salter.

In 2009, the Swedish duo sold Expekt to Mangas Gaming for a reported €125 million. Mangas, now known as the BetClic Everest Group, is a French-based consortium that is also involved with Betclic, Bet-at-home and has shares in Everest Poker. This takeover brought a changeover in management of the company.

As well as offering poker since 2003, they offer sports betting, casino games and bingo. The company is licensed and regulated out of Gibraltar but is currently operated out of Malta. As with many skins on the iPoker network, their priority certainly lies with sports betting and other forms of gambling. Their social media certainly promotes sports betting a lot and even the poker client strongly encourages players to check out other games such as the casino.

Software / Colour Scheme / User interface

The Expekt poker lobby is certainly very strong with the use of bright orange on the banner as well as the cashier button. Those bright colours are set upon an otherwise dark grey and black theme. On the typical Playtech iPoker software, as well as the poker games for you to choose from, you are also shown your account balance, VIP level, reward points and your total hands played. Expekt certainly uses the lobby well to show players the options they have, be it the new types of poker games being advertised on the bottom left or the prominent advertising of the casino games and slots on the top banner.

The table itself has a nice basic look to it. The table felt has a pale shade of blue with a white font Expekt logo embedded on it. The table background is a dark grey with the action buttons in orange. They certainly stand out, bringing your attention to the table where you need to act. Stack sizes and player names are easy to make out on this basic display.

As part of the iPoker network, players on the Expekt skin get access to a large player pool. As well as a decent tournament schedule and range of cash games, players can also choose to play newer forms of poker such as speed poker and Twister sit & goes. Players have the comfort of playing these games on a trustworthy, constantly improving platform that many players are familiar with.

Skin specific loyalty info

Expekt poker offers an eight tier rewards system for their players. The levels range from the entry level of Iron right up to the much coveted Super Elite. Working your way through these levels will see you earn more rakeback and tournament entries. Expekt have two different types of points in their system. For every €1 in rake you will earn 10 Expekt Points (EPs). Depending on your level these will then be converted to Reward Points (RPs). RPs are the currency for converting your points to cash. I have outlined in the below table the level, points required and multiplier for each.

Once you start earning your Reward Points you will start thinking about cashing them out. There is an array of options available to you to do so. They can be cashed out Sit & Win tournaments, direct cash outs or through buying tournament tickets. Tournament tickets are the best value way of cashing in.

Expekt also offer €20,000 worth of freeroll each month for their loyal players also. This is consisted of one €5,000 freeroll per month and regular €1,000 freerolls. The more points you earn, the better the chance you have of winning these freerolls!

Skin specific games

Expekt are certainly lacking in their skin specific games. They don’t feature any games that you can buy in for real money. They do offer an array of games for their VIP players to cash in their reward points however. They have the Friday Feeling as well as the Monday Madness which are both guaranteed at €2,000 with a 50 RP buy in. They also offer unique sit & win tournaments, which are just a way for players to cash in their reward points just by registering for these heads up games.

Site Safety / Security / Reputation in Forums

Expekt Gaming Limited is licenced and regulated out of Gibraltar by the Government and Gambling Commissioner. Expekt has a strong working relationship with two of Europe’s largest banks – Barclays and Natwest. This will certainly make players feel more secure about their payment processing. They use Dell servers and Fontinet Firewall to protect your data as well as having a Thawte SSL encryption certificate.

The poker skin itself uses the Playtech iPoker engine, which many players will be familiar with. Despite having the odd glitch it is generally a solid platform for players to play on and feel safe. They can be sure they are not being cheated against with the integrity of the game being kept strong by having many large bookmakers using it as their poker platform.

In the past Expekt’s reputation did suffer slightly. They had some issues when moving poker network from Prima to Tain in 2005. These disruptions resulted in Expekt losing the faith of some customers. They joined the more stable iPoker network in 2009 and are now a site I would consider a lot more trustworthy.

Customer Support

Expekt have a pretty good support system. Although they do not offer telephone support, you can contact them via email and a very efficient live chat system within your browser (link also available on poker client). Support is available in a number of different languages including Polish, Italian, Portuguese and Swedish. In addition to this they also have a frequently asked questions library for those common questions that re occur. It is worth doing a quick search on this before getting onto support for instant results.

Verdict

I would definitely encourage players to choose Expekt as your iPoker skin. Their deposit bonus as well as their rewards from the VIP system is excellent for players. The company now seems to be settled on the iPoker network so previous problems with moving networks are no longer relevant. As poker players we are always looking for the best value for money and we certainly get that from Expekt. The only things you are sacrificing from the other decent iPoker skins are the satellites to live games in your area (particularly UK & Ireland skins). If you can put up with the slightly over the top orange theme and keep your eyes off the casino games you will certainly reap the rewards of one of the best VIP systems on the network.
