Ladbrokes Poker Review
Ladbrokes are the largest betting company in the United Kingdom and the largest retail bookmaker worldwide. The company has a long history throughout the poker industry and recently moved to the iPoker network.
I would recommend Ladbrokes to anyone looking for a new skin to play on as it offers one of the best deposit bonuses around and the VIP Club rewards high volume players.
Ladbrokes are a UK-based company that employs over 14,000 people in the gambling industry. They have a strong presence across the UK, Ireland, Spain and Belgium. Ladbrokes are the largest betting company in the United Kingdom and the largest retail bookmaker worldwide.
They have an outstanding land-based presence with a total of 2,400 betting shops, while they have also made online and mobile betting a focal point in recent years. They admit themselves that this was not a strong area for the company for some time and in 2013 they teamed up with the Playtech software to improve this area.
Ladbrokes was a major player in the poker industry in the early noughties when the game really took off online. It was home to some of the highest stakes cash action around and was the main sponsor of the famous “Poker Million”. If you speak to anyone that played online a decade ago they will reminisce fondly on the good days of Ladbrokes poker.
In recent years, as part of the Microgaming network, it certainly was not as strong as it once was. There were still some good games to be seen on steady software with reasonable traffic, but overall it never hit the heights that it once had. In late 2013 it made a big change by leaving the Microgaming network and going to the iPoker network.
We hope that this switch will be of benefit both to Ladbrokes players and also the iPoker network in general by welcoming in a new player base.
Software / Colour Scheme / User interface
Ladbrokes made the move to the Playtech software recently, which is used by the iPoker network. This allows users to play up to 16 resizable tables with many customisable features such as avatars, notifications, decks as well as a number of other table features to make you comfortable in your session.
The software is styled predominantly red and white along with some dark greys and black. The tables themselves have a dark wooden floor background with a red table. Player names have a black background with white font, while their stack size is in a black font sat on a lime green background. The betting buttons use a similar green background with white font. All of these are very easy to read and the buttons grab your attention when the action is on you.
iPoker as a network offers a wide variety of cash games, tournaments and sit & goes. If you are looking for games outside of the norm why not try out their Speed Poker cash games, anonymous tables or their new Twister Poker 3 handed Sit & Go tournaments which offer an exciting twist with different jackpots to be won.
One little problem is an issue with their splash screen for the poker client. If you go to reset your password you get stuck on that page with no way of closing it, without closing the whole client.
Skin specific bonus information
As a relative newcomer to the iPoker network, Ladbrokes offers an extensive welcome package. New customers receive:
• 200% first deposit bonus up to £1,200 / €1,500.
• Compete in the €250 Newbie Delight each week.
• Access to Ladbrokes Poker School.
• 4 tokens to €2,000 New Depositors Freerolls.
• 1 token to a €1,250 depositor’s freeroll.
The offer most players are interested in is, of course, the first deposit bonus. The bonus offered by Ladbrokes is larger than the norm when it comes to iPoker skins. Players have 90 days to release their entire first deposit bonus. It is released at a rate of €5 for every 240 Status points earned. Status points are earned at a rate of 14 Status points per 1 euro raked. With this information we can see that while you are clearing the first deposit bonus you are earning a 29% return on the rake that you play on Ladbrokes. This is up there with the best around on iPoker. Especially given the large amount of the bonus.
Skin specific loyalty info
Ladbrokes offers it's players a six-tier loyalty program. It is based around accruing as many Status Points (SP) as possible to earn more rewards as you climb through the levels. The peak rakeback you can attain on Ladbrokes is 35%. There are two different types of points in this VIP club. The base points are Status Points. You will earn 14 Status Points for every €1 paid in rake or tournament fees. The other type of points are Ladbrokes Points (LP). The higher the rank you are the more LPs you will earn per SP. Below is a table of of the differnent levels and the monthly requirement to achieve each of them.
|Level||VIP Name||SP Required||Min Rake Paid (€)|
As mentioned previously the maximum rakeback earned on Ladbrokes through this loyalty program is 35%. However this won't be achievable for the majority of players. Most regular players can expect to earn around a 22% rakeback while playing on Ladbrokes. For the more casual player you can expect to achieve just under 18%.
Depositing / Withdrawing Info
Ladbrokes accepts all of the usual payment options. Major credit & debit cards, Neteller, Skrill, Western Union, UKash, WebMoney, Qiwi and Yandex. Ladbrokes’ quick deposit functionality allows players to deposit directly from the tables. This is either a positive or a negative, depending on your tilt levels.
Site Safety / Security / Reputation in Forums
As a site that is steeped in history within the poker and general gambling industry you are very safe and secure on this site. Ladbrokes are approved by the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association. They display a link with Gamcare on their website which shows they are very conscious to protect people with gambling problems.
Their poker site is monitored by independent auditors and data integrity is taken very seriously by such a big company.
As the poker skin is now part of the iPoker network, players receive all of the safety that comes with being part of that. As a result, Ladbrokes will be a personal preference for a lot of players, given its history and as a result of holding a great reputation among the poker community.
As soon as you set up your account and log in to the software you will be met by the friendly staff encouraging you to take full advantage of their deposit bonuses. This is available via the live support on the client itself. Along with this there is both phone support and email support. In my own experience the email support can be pretty slow to reply. The most efficient way of getting answers is via the live support.
Ladbrokes poker is definitely an attractive site, especially for high volume players. Having made the recent move to iPoker, they are certainly trying to attract more players to the room. It offers one of the best deposit bonuses around for iPoker skins and the VIP club definitely rewards high volume grinders. If you are looking for a new skin to play on you will certainly be rewarded well financially by making the move to Ladbrokes poker.
